Treasure Maps 2012 ~ Big Kids Magazine, Kim and I had a meeting in a coffee shop this weekend that featured an artist who worked with maps which reminded of me of this project. I love maps, I find it is one of those universally appealing subjects. I set out maps and there is always a reaction. This is a really cool project please check it out.

Do You Care? ~ Brick by Brick, fabulous post about caring and the importance of relationships.

Just Part of Life ~ Sunflower Creative Arts, a great post about a child exploring death and a parent’s responsive ways.

1000 x5 Literacy Project ~ PLAY Victoria, highlighting a great project by Penninsula Connections.

Its family Literacy week! Read books, play with books, talk about books and make sure  books are available in your home or centre.

Here are a few of our favourite books right now:

Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge ~ Mem Fox, this is a touching story that always almost brings a tear to my eye and provokes some wonderful discussion with the children.

Frog Girl~ Paul Owen Lewis

We are all explorersLearning and Teaching With Reggio Principles in Urban Settings~ Sandra J. Scheinfeld, I bought this book in the summer to read, I finally picked it up last night. Thats what happens though when you buy ten books to read in the summer!

Have a great weekend everyone!

You may have stopped by the site recently and it looked completely different and then it went back to the normal format. You may have noticed some new features, like threaded commenting, spam prevention and author bios. Well my partner got me a couple books on wordpress and I have been playing ever since.  So if you stop by and the page changes don’t worry I am just having fun.

We also have a lot of dates coming up. I will be adding them to the calendar shortly.

10 Ideas for Outdoor Rainy Day Play ~ Let the Children Play

Marvelous Mud ~ an article by Rusty Keeler. The pictures in this article make me want to start a mud pit in my backyard!

Our May Ways of the Three Little Pigs ~ StrongStart

The Wolves in the Walls ~ Chapters, one of my favourite books to read with children. It was the most read book on the book shelf. If I tried to put it away the children asked me to get it out again. They acted this story out a lot as well.

So like many others out there I am addicted to pinterest. Come and find me there.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
