Kim Atkinson
Kim has been in the field of early childhood education for many years, working with both adults and children. She is currently a pedagogical facilitator working with a number of early learning centres to extend thinking and practice. As a writer, her work appears regularly in a number of BC publications. Kim has been participating in the ‘Investigating Quality Project’ at the University of Victoria since 2009 and was in the first cohort of ‘The Early Childhood Educators of BC Leadership Initiative. In 2008, Kim received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education and in 2004 was a nominee for the Vancouver Island YMCA Women of Distinction Awards. She is an Honourary Life Member of the Vancouver Island Cooperative Preschool Association.
Danielle Davis
Danielle has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for a long time as well. She is currently a Roots of Empathy Instructor for the Saanich School District and Co Chair of ECEBC Victoria. Danielle has been inspired by the philosophy of ‘Reggio Emilia’and made pedagogical narrative and documentation a part of her everyday practice. Her role varies from that of ECE, to administrator and to workshop facilitator on a range of topics. She is passionate about reconnecting children with nature and is involved in research that facilitates putting this philosophy into practice. Danielle is also the mother of the ever curious and lovely Helaina who deepens her understanding about the compentencies of young children everyday.
